Both Judith DeLany and members of her training team, as well as myself, teach on this advanced course. NewsHonorary Fellowship Award
On November 17th 2005, at the Barbican Centre in London, at a graduation ceremony with an audience of some 2500 graduating students and their families, the University of Westminster awarded me an Honorary Fellowship for 'Services to Osteopathy & Complementary Medicine'. This was a truly unexpected and humbling experience, involving as it did wearing 14th century-style robes, processing and participating in a ceremony that lasted 3 hours. The personal award segment consisted of a brief reading by the University Provost of the reasons for the award, followed by a brief address to the audience. In this I tried to give a sense of why I thought graduates should consider writing as a major part of their future careers, since to paraphrase Samuel Johnson, ' to write a single book a man must turn over half a library'. There is no more educational experience, I believe, than writing - especially if the topic is interesting and even more so if you need to know more about it to make the book authoritative! (that's where Johnson's 'half a library' comes in).Linkshttp://sashanonserviat.net/
Our practice group came together because of our shared interest in taking a holistic approach to treating a wide range of health concerns . For detailed information about our clinic, practitioners (click on individual names when you reach the site), therapies and other activities please navigate using the links on the site. We are a group of practitioners - some medical some complementary, - who offer natural, holistic treatments plus information and advice, classes and talks on health matters. The team is qualified to offer counselling and psychology, medical and non-medical osteopathy, medical acupuncture, naturopathy, clinical ecology (allergy), clinical nutrition, breathing pattern rehabilitation, Chinese medicine, and homeopathy Our approach is: * as natural as possible: such methods and remedies reinforce the body's own healing resources * holistic : we treat each person as a whole individual, not just a set of symptoms or problems, and aim to restore balance between the different parts of the whole * complementary to each other and to orthodox medicine: practitioners will recommend another therapist if the two therapies will work well together * alternative to orthodox medicine: where drugs or surgery are unacceptable or have failed, we offer alternative treatments. Understanding Breathing www.cafepress.com/artchemy www.cortiva.com/deep http://www.wmin.ac.uk/sih/page-85 SIH offers a unique, comprehensive programme of BSc (Honours), Masters, Diploma and short courses. The courses in acupuncture, herbal medicine, homoeopathy, nutritional therapy and therapeutic bodywork (that I helped to design) were the first named degrees of their kind in the UK. The School has developed the widest range of complementary therapy courses in Europe Below is a list of courses available in the Department of Complementary Therapies. Postgraduate Diploma Chinese Herbal Medicine http://www.healthy.net http://www.nmtcenter.com Judi is also an associate editor of JBMT (see journal page). In my opinion the NMT Centre offers the best neuromuscular therapy training in the USA During the last sixty years, neuromuscular therapy (NMT) has emerged as a significant methodology for assessing, treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. NMT, a series of treatment protocols based on the practitioner's skill, anatomy knowledge and precise palpatory application, has found its home, not only in the treatment rooms of massage therapy, but also in occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic, osteopathic and physical medicine clinics worldwide. NMTcan be part of a comprehensive program, complementing all other health care modalities. http://www.cam-mag.com Consultant Editor: Leon Chaitow, ND, DO CAM is an accessible professional magazine rather than a peer-reviewed scientific journal. However, it is science-based. CAM is published monthly with unrivalled coverage of the latest news, research and political developments in complementary and alternative medicine. It covers areas such as nutrition, diet, herbal medicine, naturopathy, bodywork, homeopathy, acupuncture and the therapeutic application of mind-body research. The emphasis is to keep CAM practitioners painlessly up to date - with both science and the relevant politics - while increasing collaboration and integration. It is provided without charge to all qualified practitioners in the UK. You can register on the site for this. The Massage Therapy Foundation is an American based public charity that aims to advance the profession of
massage through community service, research and education. Their website is well worth exploring for among other
things a major research database (4600 research records) and library (articles of interest and books). JBMT strongly
supports the Foundation and is involved in its Case Study Competition.
